Happy Thanksgiving to our readers. Here are some definitions of Thankfulness that our Pastor shared with us at our Wednesday night Bible study: "recognizing the benefits which God and others have provided, accepting difficulties as part of God's loving provision, looking for appropriate ways to express genuine appreciation, and looking for ways to honor others who have benefited my life." Psalm 100 is a wonderful scripture for the Thanksgiving season, and there are many stories in Scripture as an example for thankfulness. Consider the story of the thankful leper or the story of Ruth.

With The Lord
Deborah Wolford Troxell went home to be with her Lord January, 2009. She taught our Junior age Sunday School class, used her talent of singing for special music, and her artistic abilities with flower arrangements for the auditorium and bulletin boards. Debbie grew up in our church and is greatly missed.
Former Pastor Ronald E. Campbell, who was our pastor for almost 30 years, went home to be with the Lord April 8th, 2009. Pastor Campbell served the Lord in our church after retirement by teaching Sunday School, and preaching at our Nursing Home services. He will be greatly missed!
Members Tom Wolford, Jr. and Elvira King recently went home to be with the Lord, in May and August of 2015. Elvira taught Sunday School for many years and was an active member since the beginning. She was a faithful deacon's wife for many years. Tom was a faithful member of our church since his childhood. He was always faithful in the small things that others often did not see. Both members will be greatly missed.

Our Statement of Faith
The Scriptures
We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God; that it is the only complete and final revelation of God's will to man; and that it is the supreme standard of all faith and practice.
II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21
God
We believe the scriptures reveal God as eternally existing, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, and manifesting Himself in Three Persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-one in essence and power.
Ex. 3:14, Gen. 1:1, Matt. 28:19, IICor. 13:14
The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His substitutionary death on the cross for our sins; His physical resurrection from the grave; His ascension to the right hand of God where He ever liveth to make intercession for believers; and His personal, visible, bodily return to the earth at the end of the age.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person, possessed of all the distinctive Divine attributes. We believe He is the Administrator of the things of God- convincing of sin, revealing the truth, energizing believers in matters of prayer and service and restraining evil "until He is taken out of the way."
IIThess. 2:7, Psa. 139:7-10
Man
We believe God made man in His own image and that man came into the world by direct creation of God and not by evolution; that this creative act of God was separate and distinct from any work of God. We believe the Scriptures record of the fall of man through disobedience to God and that by nature man is "dead in trespasses and sins."
Gen. 1:26, 9:6, Rom. 5:12, Psa. 53:5
Salvation
We believe salvation to be by grace through faith wholly apart from human merit and that every individual is a sinner by birth and by choice and therefore must exercise personal faith in the redeeming work of Christ on Calvary in order to be saved.
Eph. 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Psa. 51:5, Rom. 3:23, 10:9-10
Satan
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan- that he is a created being once known as "the anointed Cherub that covereth". That through pride he fell- that He is the "God of this world" and the "Prince of the power of the air"-and that he will be judged at the revelation of Jesus Christ and ultimately cast into the lake of fire.
Matt. 13:14, john 8:44, Eph. 2:2, Rev. 20:10
Heaven and Hell
We believe in a heaven of eternal bliss for all who through faith in the Lamb of God, have become the children of God, and the lake of fire of eternal judgment for all who have not received the forgiveness of sins which is through Christ Jesus.

The Church and its Ordinances
We believe a local Fundamental Baptist Church is a voluntary association of baptized believers, equal in rank and privilege subject to the Word of God, and independent of any external ecclesiastical control whatsoever. We believe God's Word commands every believer to be baptized, and that the only scriptural mode is by immersion. We believe the Ordinance of the Lord's Supper should be observed as Christ said, "In remembrance of His broken body and shed blood" for us, and that the supper has no sacramental virtue.

Evangelization
We believe it is the solemn obligation of every believer to be a personal soul-winner and to do his utmost to carry out the Savior's command to give the Gospel to the whole world.

Our Pastor and Family
Pastor Terry C. Upcott came to Bible Baptist in 1999 to join in ministry with Pastor Ron Campbell as our Assistant Pastor. When Pastor Campbell retired, Pastor Upcott was called to take his place as Pastor. Pastor Upcott holds a degree in Practical Christian Training Ministerial track from Bob Jones University. His wife, Jennifer, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Bob Jones University. The Upcotts have three children.
